JoJo’s Journal – Jay-Z, Beyonce, Britney, Bobby Brown

April 8, 2008

Hey folks.  Just stopping by for a minute to give my take on what’s going on in the entertainment world and beyond.  And remember, it’s MY take.  Everybody has an opinion.

Love is beautiful thing.  After dating for several years Hip-Hop mogul Jay Z and his gorgeous lady Superstar Beyonce FINALLY tied the knot!  Well, that’s what we all think! J  They are still very hush, hush about whether it really happened or not.  I hope it did; they are two fabulous people.  Friday night (4/4/08) limos dropped off well-heeled guests in front of Jay’s Manhattan home; caterers were seen going in out with food and other party stuff; a white tent was erected on the rooftop of the building.  Some kind of party was happening!

Also, did ya hear that Jay Z signed a $150 million contract with concert promoters Live Nation?!  Apparently this is an unprecedented move in the recording industry.  Jay is obviously a brilliant businessman.  Brother from Brooklyn really made it to the top, didn’t he?!

My girl Britney is looking better every day!  It looks like her dad is doing a great job getting her on the road to recovery.  Could this mean she is “really” on the mend?  I hope so.  If you don’t know by now I love me some Britney Spears; yes, not ashamed to say I am a big fan.

On March 17 The Los Angeles Times had printed a story online saying that associates of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulted Tupac Shakur in 1994 and that Combs knew about it ahead of time.  And then a shorter version of the story appeared in their newspaper on March 19.  The stories were written by Pulitzer-prize winning staff writer Chuck Philips.  Get this – all the information that this “so-called” writer used were phony documents filled with false information!  What an idiot!  And this guy won a Pulitzer?!  The LA Times has since retracted the story and apologized.  I say an apology is NOT enough!  If I were Sean, or anyone affected by the story, I would sue, sue, sue!

Just when I thought I’d heard it all Bobby Brown has written a book called “Being Bobby Brown: The Truth and Nothing But …,” out next month.  I’ve always been a fan of Bobby’s but now I’m jumping off the “fan ship”.  After he and Whitney broke up I was hoping that he would not take the low road and air more of their dirty laundry in public but he has.  Bobby claims that he did not do cocaine until he met Whitney.  What?!  I simply cannot believe that!  That’s funny because Whitney’s life did not go downhill until she married Bobby.  Before Bobby she was a Black American Princess; with Bobby she was a wealthy drug addict.  That liver-lipped Negro should be happy that he spent 15 years with that beautiful songbird and that she freely gave him her money!  You man-jerk!  And until this book I did not know he dated Janet Jackson.  Did you?  He said that he did not start drinking hard liquor until after he and Janet broke up.  Do you see a pattern here?  He cannot take responsibility for his own problems.  Again, you man-jerk!  J

Did ya hear?  Toni Braxton was admitted to a Vegas hospital late last night (4/7) after her show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.  Toni suffers from pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart. She has been headlining a Las Vegas show at the hotel since 2006. Although Toni is making millions in Vegas I miss her on the airwaves.  I wish she would put out some new music.  Before Beyonce she might have been the hottest chick in the music game.  I love Toni Braxton; lets all pray for her speedy recovery.

Do any of you guys watch Dancing With the Stars?  I watch every now and then.  I know what I am about to say is not nice but this is MY journal.  J  This season I am quite distracted by Priscilla Presley’s face!  Oh my God – how horrible! I have always felt she was one of the most beautiful women alive!  Poor Priscilla (and I don’t mean financially; remember she is Elvis’ ex wife) went to Dr. Daniel Serrano back in 2003. Serrano was a doctor from Argentina who started giving Hollywood’s elite what he claimed were miracle injections that worked better than Botox. Guess what?  This quack doctor was injecting folks with industrial, low-grade silicone similar to what’s used to lubricate auto parts in Argentina!  What?!  Worse still is that this guy wasn’t even a licensed doctor in the U.S. The injections caused lumps, paralysis and holes in the faces of some of the women and some men he injected. Priscilla’s face is xxxxed up!  This dude needs to go to prison for life.  He’s another man-jerk.  J

Do you guys like Rachel Ray – you know the T.V. “cook”?  I am a big fan and just wanted to say she is very cute.  Go to and check out her photo.  She is looking great!  Some people feel she is too “bubbly and cute”.  Hell, if I had her millions I’d be bubbly and cute also!  Instead I’m low-budget and pissed off.  L  LOL!!

Damn I love Madonna’s new song with Justin Timberlake and Timberland “4 Minutes to Save the World” and I love the video! If you haven’t heard the song you can hear the full version on YouTube.  And she looks fantastic!  I can’t seem to get the beat out of my head and the chorus is addictive.  Madge never fails to impress – always doing interesting music.  With her talent I wonder why she can’t seem to make good movies.  That’s O.K. girlfriend – just keep making us groove.

Artist of the Month

 The Rolling Stones

My favorite rock band of ALL time is The Rolling Stones.  As far as I’m concerned very few people can rock like the Stones!  And no other skinny white boy can shake his ass like Mick Jagger can!

Hailing from England, The Stones were formed in 1962 by original leader Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart.  Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards joined them and after that came bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts.  Mick and Keith were songwriting partners and that lead to their taking over as “leaders” of the band.  In 1963 Ian Stewart was removed from the official lineup but continued to work with the band as road manager and keyboardist until his death in 1985.

The Rolling Stones became popular in the United States during the “British Invasion” in the early 1960’s.  (If you don’t know about the “British Invasion” of the 1960’s it’s time for you to start doing some music history research.)  In 1969 Brian Jones was fired from the band and died shortly thereafter.  He was replaced by Mick Taylor.  Taylor recorded five albums with The Rolling Stones before quitting in 1974.  Ronnie Wood, a guitarist with a group called Former Faces, was hired and has been with the Stones ever since. Bill Wyman left the Rolling Stones in 1993.  Bassist Darryl Jones, who is not an official band member, has worked with the group since 1994.

The Stones were influenced by American blues and R&B music.  Yes, they LOVE “black” music!  Some of their biggest hits were “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Start Me Up”, “Beast of Burden”, “Angie”, “Brown Sugar”, “Gimme Shelter”, “It’s Only Rock and Roll”, “Jumpin Jack Flash” – the hits go on and on.  The band was named after the song “Rollin’ Stone” by Muddy Waters.

Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie are all in their 60’s but they are still hot today.  There’s a new documentary in theaters now called “Shine A Light” directed by the great Martin Scorsese.  This is a must see.

Of course, the history of The Rolling Stones is much more than I’ve written.  This is only a taste of their history.  You know what I’m going to say……do your own research, educate, learn!

Rock on kids!

I can’t get no satisfaction

I can’t get no satisfaction

‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try

I can’t get no, I can’t get no

Hey hey hey, that’s what I say

JayZ/Beyonce wedding has been the talk of the town. I look forward to seeing the pics (I know somebody got an exclusive). I haven’t seen too much of Britney lately. To be honest I tune the TV out whenever she’s mentioned–can you say Britney overload. That fake story about Diddy was a trip. I wonder if he’ll sue them. I will say it right here, I will NOT be getting Bobby B’s book. No other comments on the subject because this is a public forum. Sorry to hear about Toni B. I hadn’t heard that. I pray for a speedy recovery. Great pick–The Rolling Stones.
